Another Baby is Coming!

We're adding a 5th member to the Vaughan Bungalow crew! Now that most of the panic (it's unexpected) has passed, we're slowly getting ready to welcome our newest baby girl into our home.

At this point we're just over two months out from our due date, but since our babies like to come early, we're starting our preparations now.

By this point we've secured an additional crib + mattress combo, a highchair, dug through storage and purchased our postpartum needed items. In storage we found our infant car seat (only 1 year old), infant bassinet, baby toys, bottles, bottle warmer and new born clothes. We're almost all set!

Over the next three weeks I'll begin slowly prepping freezer meals and shopping for sales on the kids' favorite snacks. I'll also begin to prep the baby's dresser (which she'll be sharing with her sister) by washing all of the newborn laundry and filling the drawers with diapers. I'll also be taking care of myself by placing my order for a breast pump through our insurance.

When we're six weeks out from our due date, I'll pack our hospital bags and finalize any labor plans the hospital requests. I'll also be prepping the Diaper Bag for any last minute drop-off requirement of our two older kids. I'm really interested to see how my hospital-packing has changed from the first pregnancy to this one. That may be worth a blog post on its own.

I remember feeling soooo overwhelmed and excited when we were prepping for our oldest to come. It was all I could think about day and night, and I spent countless hours sitting in his half-prepped nursery waiting on him to arrive. This pregnancy is very different. Haydn and I both feel prepared in a way we haven't before. By now, we know how to focus on handling what we can and putting faith in God to handle what we cannot. It's a pretty remarkable place to be and it's a place I pray for every soon-to-be-mom to find before the whirlwind of a newborn begins.

Lord, I ask that you bless the mom who will ready this post. I ask that you build her up with a community and a faith that is ready to welcome the unknowns. Bless her as she prepares the best she can for the new baby that is coming to grow her sweet family. Amen!
